365 Days of Oscar: Pauline Collins in “Shirley Valentine”

Pauline Collins pulled off a rare hat trick by sweeping all the New York theatre awards for the Willy Russell play Shirley Valentine. Shortly afterwards, a film version was released, directed by Lewis Gilbert, who had also directed Russell’s Educating Rita. Collins was also nominated for the Golden Globe and Oscar for Best Actress. And she is fantastic in it!
