This week’s birthday girl Amy Adams has come close to making history — six Oscar nominations, no wins, tying her with Deborah Kerr, and a record now extended by only Glenn Close’s Oscar-free at-bats. Five of her nominations have been for Best Supporting Actress: Junebug (2005), Doubt (2008), The Fighter (2010), The Master (2012), and Vice (2018). Of these, she was most deserving for Junebug and The Master. She was also nominated for Best Lead Actress for 2013’s American Hustle, while many expected her to be nominated for Arrival in 2016.

Me? I’d have nominated her for Enchanted in 2007. She deserved the award for that!
