365 Days of Oscar: The Stars of “Educating Rita” Align

Educating Rita is a 1983 British comedy-drama film directed by Lewis Gilbert with a screenplay by Willy Russell, based on his 1980 stage play about an alcoholic teacher and the adult pupil who takes him by surprise. The film stars Michael Caine, Julie Walters, Michael Williams and Maureen Lipman. Both won Golden Globes and BAFTA awards for their work as well. But I might have given both of them the Oscar, too.
