While the show’s second season received a surprise nomination for Best Drama two years ago — rare for any genre work, unheard of for something outside of the Disney and Marvel umbrella — I’m worried that in a more crowded season, voters will overlook its bona fides, which include great production values, stellar writing, and an especially fantastic lead performance by the easy-to-overlook Antony Starr as the wickedly complicated “hero” Homelander.
This is part of a series looking at some of the year’s best in television that might go overlooked when this week’s Emmy nominations are announced.
