Steve Martin and Harry Bliss Discuss “Number One is Walking” at Town Hall

In celebration of their new book, Number One Is Walking, author Steve Martin and illustrator Harry Bliss took to the stage of The Town Hall to discuss their new book, “Number One Is Walking: My Life in the Movies and Other Diversions.”

“Number One” is Martin’s latest work of autobiography, in this case focusing on his versatile film career. Without telling too many tales out of school, he provides chestnuts from more than four decades of film work brought to life by New Yorker cartoonist Bliss.

The event was moderated by beloved performer Nathan Lane. Who recently won a Guest Actor Emmy Award for appearing on Martin’s current Hulu series, Only Murders in the Building. Onstage, the three shared a winning chemistry while Martin cracked wise about the industry (“So much depends on just showing up at parties!”). Bliss impressed all by drawing sketches live on an iPad for attendees to see – his way with sketching dogs is quite a site.

“Number One Is Walking: My Life in the Movies and Other Diversions” is published by Celadon Books.
